Finally a post about our Kitchen Update....

I have not posted pictures of our finished Kitchen....  So what exactly did we do to this Kitchen in the last year after moving in in October 2013?  I painted the cabinets with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the color of CoCo... We put all new hinges/hardware on the cabinets.... removed the doors up in the corner on each side of the sink and had the medieval wire removed and had glass put in, plus glass shelves in the cabinets on the corner also...  We removed the flooring and had large rectangular tiles put in... we flip flopped where the sink  and dishwasher was and added a new dishwasher and a deep stainless apron front sink/new faucets, removed the old range hood and put an over the stove microwave in, (and above the microwave put in a shelf) of course we brought our stainless gas stove and refrigerator, removed the laminate counter top and replaced with granite.  I installed white subway tile for the backsplash.  We had lighting put in over the sink and also LED under cabinet lighting... (LOVE IT)  .....

On the wall below there was nothing, so we had this dresser that would not fit downstairs, Mark installed the two end cabinets and made the shelves in between them.... We made this our coffee bar.

We replaced all of the windows and now we have an awesome view of our backyard, and we can even open the side windows for a nice breeze.  (the old windows were all fogged up in between the glass and we could not open them)

So for those who have asked to see our completed kitchen...   (by the way....the door back in the corner goes to the lower level).

Happy Wednesday....

Floating Shelves.....

When we bought our home a year ago, we had all intentions of when I sold my home we would put in a gas log fireplace, but we have enjoyed our fake fireplace so much we decided not to do that!  (I say fake because it is just a wall mount electric heater and a mantle from the Habitat Restore)   We have decided that we really like it the way it is (for now anyway).  Although, in my plans to put in a fireplace was also the plan for built in shelves on each side.  So after Thanksgiving we put in floating shelves... If you want to see just how we did them you can go to Southern Revivals Blog and see her tutorial!  EASY PEASY!!   We had them done in one afternoon and it only cost around $50. for ALL the shelves!

My TJ MAXX Mercury Glass Lamps!  $39. each lamp and that included the shade!  SCORE

Painted the Shelf below with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint..... and love the outcome!

That is what I have been up to besides bag making! ;)

The Master Bedroom and Bath

When we first looked at this home I knew that it was possible to put in a Master Bath in what was the Master Closet… I KNEW it could be done!

Here is the Master Closet that we have made into a bathroom!!!

and here is our bedroom before I got a hold of it…… before it got Nancyfied

On the right hand side of our "then" closet was a laundry chute, I have forever and a day wanted a laundry chute, but where it did sit was where our vanity was to go…. NO WORRIES… my hubby could make it happen in the opposite corner…...

Here he is making my wish come true!!!  He is so great at helping me with my projects!!!!

I made a trip to Ikea and purchased the Hemne tall dresser thinking we could he could make it work!  So the bottom two drawers we did not he didn't put together knowing that we would make it into the door to open for the laundry chute…..

SEE

AND me dropping the maiden voyage laundry load…...

You could never tell by looking at the tall dresser what  we did!!

CAN we say I am LOVING the new bathroom...

and another view…. oh do not look too close I have a dozen or so outlet covers and do you think I could find them???

and the awesome new sleek style toilet!

Oh and do not look too closely and the water spotted shower doors…. the labels were on the wrong side so we now have to remove them and reinstall them the clear coat is on the wrong side…...

and looking into the bathroom from our bedroom…..

oh and another shot just because I am loving looking at it!

Oh and our bedroom, I painted the walls with Valspar Bird Song Blue….
and purchased a Royal Design Stencil and Stenciled the same gray from the bathroom onto the one wall…….

and a shot as you come into the room

the flooring I laid…..

and if you are wondering what we did for a closet we had a closet built in along the one wall… yes it took some of our space up but we didn't really care the trade off was a Master Bathroom!!!

THE END RESULT is WE LOVE IT!!!!!

Thanks for looking!!!  Nancy

My latest update…...

You know I cannot leave good enough alone…. AND I AM GLAD!  I have never liked the white Blah backsplash in the kitchen.  So out with the old and in with the new, just in time for this new year we are now into!

I was googling kitchen tile, and found this amazing product called Stick it… I went to my favorite home store first the Big Blue box, and they had no clue what I was talking about… so I traveled onto the big Orange Box and they had it and several different choices.  This stuff is amazing!!!!

Cost wise for the same price I could have installed the actual ceramic tiles of my choice and taken a few days to do the project.  I would of had to taken off the old tile, etc…..  I had this done in about two hours!

EASY PEASY you cut this with scissors or a straight edge and a sharp blade!

Oh and yes I did take my outlet covers off, but I was so anxious to see how it looked that I put them back on immediately after applying the piece of tile!!

AND YESSIRREE I put it on right over the top of my ceramic blah tile!

I NOW LOVE MY KITCHEN!!!!

Here is the before…. before I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the color CoCo, before I replaced the upper corner cabinet doors with glass in the door and the wooden shelves replaced with glass, before I replaced all the hardware and BEFORE the backsplash….. I LOVE THE NEW!!!!!  It cost about $165.00 to do the backsplash, I didn't say it was cheap but it was sure easy!!!!

Take a good look at that horrible flooring, It was installed by the previous owners, It has a huge rip under the stove, there are several huge bubbles by the stove and fridge, and you can absolutely not scoot anything on this floor!!!!!

AND THAT would be a crock pot of Ham and Navy Beans, a New Year's Day family tradition!

When looking at this you can honestly not tell the difference and I love it!!!  It was the look I was after!!

and the cute chickens I found at Hobby Lobby!

So here is to wishing you a Happy, Healthy New Year!!!   May God's Blessings be upon you!

My Haven from the World…...

Today I would like to show you my craft room…. Once again I have a room all to myself.  Mark now has his own Den where he can go to study and get away from everything.

Before you look…. DO NOT JUDGE…. :)  Yes, I love yarn.. I love when traveling to find different Knit Shops to stop at.  I have my favorites that even if I didn't buy yarn I would still stop in just to see what was new.  How Yarn (most yarn) ends up in my stash is first you hold it in your hands and feel just how soft it is… then I kind of snuggle it…. if it ends up caressing my neck to see how it feels I am usually in trouble…  (You knitters/crocheters know exactly what I am talking about!)

The Yarn Storage came from IKEA it is the BILLY SYSTEM.  Inexpensive nice storage.  Love it!

*** edited to add***  The little chipmunk in his prison attire was a gift from a dear, dear friend Tony McCubbin to Gary on his 50 birthday 10 months before Gary passed away, it was fitting since Gary was a Warden in a prison, he kept it in his office and when you pushed a button, "jail house rock" plays!  Then there is the Build a Bear "Warden" the sweet, sweet children that my daughters babysat for throughout their college life (and whom they are still in contact with) they sent this to me after Gary died.  When you pressed one foot it was a recording of their precious little voices singing "Jesus Loves You" and when you pressed the other it was "Let me call you sweetheart"  These two items have always been somewhere that I can see them!

The above is a new area for me I have not been able to set my sewing machine up somewhere where it can stay put, in years.

and below is the first crafting thing I have done in this room.

And for my "Stampin" Friends yes I still have my supplies (I have two closets that they are hidden in.
Thankful that this is all done and mostly organized… (I still have drawers to go through!)  Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!  May God's Richest Blessings be on you and your loved ones.
