June 29, 1952 is a special day it is the Birthday of my late husband and of my new husband!  How in the world did  that happen you might say?  I have no idea.... but it was certainly kind of freaky at the time....

Happy Birthday in Heaven Gary who is forever 50....

Happy Birthday Mark!  We have been working in Bible School this week.  Mark rearranged his work schedule so he could help out in VBS!  It has been a crazy week... with Rock your Hair Day....  Crazy Sock Day,  Inside Out Day..... and on and on..... A new look in the Kitchen....

I have been looking for a couple of chairs for the kitchen.... (no there wasn't anything really wrong with the chairs that went with the antique table other than they creaked a lot and not that comfortable to sit in).  So I happened to be in TJ Maxx yesterday and snatched two creamy faux leather chairs for a really good price....  we already had a couple of spare brown ones, so VOILA a new look.... I really like them and wouldn't mind finding two more if I can!  BUT will have to check out some other TJ Maxx to see if they have them!  So do I paint the table??? I am thinking about it!

Oh and yes tomorrow is somebodies Birthday!!!!

Keeping at it....

I am still working on the craft/office room..... soon I will post pictures of the final product....  Finally feel like I am getting somewhere!  I have had a toothache and am not scheduled for a root canal till next   Tuesday I called and got in on Monday instead.... so wish they would of gotten me in this week....Toothaches suck!

So what else to do when you are in pain but keep working on straightening up and putting away everything I tore apart about 3 weeks ago.... I KNEW when I tore it apart it was going to take me forever to get it reorganized and put away!!!!  I guess I am glutton for punishment!

I found these cute knitting cards in a shop in Waterloo and framed them!

Happy Weekend to all of you!

Craft Room/Office Redo (Kind of)

If you have followed my blog very long, I have been in search of the almost  perfect or should I say functional craft room.   I have had some awesome craft rooms.... in a house several years ago, a dear friend finished the basement off and half of the basement was my craft room, with built in cabinets, a bathroom nearby, an actual coffee bar..... but I sold that house.   That was the best craft room ever... maybe someday it will be replicated.  If not I will make do with what I have.  So in this big old house it has been a struggle to come up with something functional in a small room.  I finally decided I had to revamp the craft island I had made.... so I did some major rearranging, went through my stuff, got rid of some things and am still going through stuff as I put it away!

So for now here is what I have.... I hung shutters up above the crafting desk (used to be island), put up a few sentimental cards.... they were some of the last I made with my late friend Crystal.. the bird I bought at her "sale".   Of course I didn't' have to put that up to remind me of her, I am reminded every time I stamp.

I found the awesome chair at Marshalls, and the lamp at TJ Max!  I have a theme going on here it looks like with the green!

Oh and YAY I got rid of all the stuff hanging on the back of the door and made a gift wrapping area, plus hooks to hang my knitting bag and purse on!!!

So there you have it, this is what I have been up to and still working on!

Have a great Thursday!

American Girl

Yes, I finally did it!  I took my three granddaughters along with their Moms to the American Girl Store... WE  had a wonderful time.....  (oh and yes baby j went along too!) While yes, I have heard comments, "do you know how expensive that is",  "Are you Crazy?"  Why yes, yes I know I am crazy I did know it was going to cost a few dollars to go.... It was wonderful to take them all there and have an awesome, memory making day together!  Two Sisters and their Cousin all three my precious granddaughters!  The workers in the AG store all were fantastic, and after we shopped for three hours, (it takes time to pick out the right doll, her outfit, get her ears pierced and wait for her beauty shop appointment)!  After Shopping we went next door to the Cheesecake Factory and had an awesome lunch together!  None of us wanted to part when the day was over!

Just so you know it, I realize you do not have to spend money to make memories but this was something I have been wanting to do for ages and it finally worked out that we could all go and enjoy it together... The little girls will always remember the day and what fun we had together.
I have always felt as if I am Spoiling/Loving/Enjoying them not just for me but I am doing it for their Papa Gary too!  I know he is watching down from Heaven every time we are together!  So to me the day was absolutely PRICELESS!!!

Here is a little video I did of the day!

Wishing you a great weekend!

Summerflies Shawl

Another project I am working on at the moment!  Kind of tedious!

This one requires concentration as in the pattern is always laying close by!  Maybe it will be done before the snow flies!  If not I will change the name!! Ha Ha!

As for me... I am taking a long awaited trip with my two daughters and three granddaughters to the American Girl Store!!!

A little project I did....

Well we will see how long this lasts.... I painted a ceramic tile floor... It is just temporary till I/We decide what to do with the floor.  This is in a half bath downstairs near the Kitchen.  The tile was ugly and Mark said he never cared for it (as in it came with the house).  So a little paint can't hurt for the time being!

More Scarves

I got some knitting done last week while sitting at the hospital with my mother.  This is a one row scarf...  I used Berroco Captivia and Cast on 16 stitches onto size 10 needles.. knit the first two rows.  then the rest of the rows you K4, (YO, K2tog, K2)  repeat between (  ) 5 times across each  row.  When you have reached the length you want leaving enough yarn to bind off!  Knit one row and then do a knitted bind off row loosely!  Weave in your ends and you have this cute summer scarf!

I even started a second Scarf ( so that tells you I liked the pattern!)

AHHHH yes the ABABA Scarf, it will be a LONG project.... it takes forever on size 3 needles!    (the yarn for this is the Crazy Zeuberball, so this is a self striping yarn!)

A finished project!

It always feels good to finish a project!  I recently finished my "Entwined Shawl"..  It was a pretty easy knit and I am pleased with how it has turned out!  I bought the pattern on Ravelry.com and I used Cascade's Aran in grey...  It was a fairly easy and fast knit!  Many times I am overwhelmed when looking at a pattern but if I just take it step by step..... it usually comes out ok and I amaze myself!

And... if you have been praying for my Mother.... she had her gall bladder taken out last Wednesday and as of Saturday she is back in the Nursing Home.  She is not eating very well.

Hope you have an awesome week!!  Nancy

Prayers for my Momma Please!

I am sitting in a hospital waiting room at the moment.... My 90 year old Mother is having her first surgery. She has been in absolute misery for the last three weeks and they finally figured out it was her gall bladder. So this morning they are taking the pesky thing out! Please say a prayer for her if you would! Thank you so much! Dear Jesus, please be with with my Momma, be with the Doctors and Nurses who are caring for her, guide their hands as they work on her! Please Lord if it be thy will make her well again! In your most precious name I pray..... Amen Nancy
