Not just painting….

This past week I have spent a lot of time trying to catch up on projects….. I have had the dreaded Shingles…. NOT FUN… But with medication and lots of vitamins I am doing well!

Here are some shots of things finished this week… although I did not take pictures of a drapery project that was embarrassingly long past due to be finished.  The knitted items are on my FB Page Wrapped in Love and for sale.  In case you are new to my blog… Wrapped in Love is a NOT for Profit meaning it is a complete donation I give to my daughter and her family to help with the high cost of adopting from overseas.  Bulgaria to be exact.  Amber and Dan have three biological children but felt God urging them to adopt and specifically from Bulgaria.  They are into year #3 waiting for a referral, so with each passing year they have to renew everything and with that is a hefty price.  I am pleased to say that with the overwhelming support I have had in the past year I have been able to give them a nice donation.  So a BIG THANKS to all who have purchased items from me!

Here a few things done this week….

and last but not least my Mug Snug Creation…..

Annie Sloan Strikes again…...

So it is in my blood…. what can I say…  My dear late Mother would paint anything that stood still….. She apparently didn't care for beautiful woods….. I guess I have the same problem.  Oh don't get me wrong when we acquired this dining room table from my mother in law  back in the 80's I was into "country decor"  you know the geese, the baskets, Oak anything…. I loved it.  Well my mother in law passed away a few years after we bought the dining room outfit from her…. the other items have been given to kids… but I still liked the table.  It is not as sturdy as it once was.  I hope she forgives me for painting this and I will just believe that she would be happy that I still use it in my home, and that her granddaughters each have some of her antiques as well!  I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Cream.  Wishing I would have gone with a lighter shade but I am loving it for now.  I also painted the chair legs with French Linen which I think I really love that gray color!  I ended up not using the wax this time but using Minwax Polyacrylic in Satin finish.   If you want to try out ASCP it is a little pricey for the quart but if you have a small project you can get a sample size jar for $12.00….  So here you go… I have had the shingles this week so I was sick of knitting and needed to do another project.. Of course it had to include paint!  Hope you are staying warm!  Enjoy the pictures…

Nancy

And this is the before…. before I went crazy with the table and chairs… so really what do you think?

Teal my favorite color…..

Why is it when you LOVE a certain color you want just a little bit a lot of it everywhere!  I am somewhat feeling like I am finished with the kitchen, until we replace the flooring!  I got the brilliant idea one day to paint my soffit with black chalkboard paint, cut out words with my cricket and do a subway art but also including chalk writing on the soffit….. ummm you will never see the the pictures it was a huge dislike… it was too busy with my "tile" backsplash so I ended up the next day painting over it all with the same Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that I painted the cabinets with (CoCo)…. I love it now….   You can buy Annie Sloan at Fresh Vintage in Muscatine, Iowa…. They are very helpful!!  With adding the drapes to the kitchen and repainting the round chalkboards I am in love……

so to bore you with a few more pictures…..

and out these windows we can see our birds….

at any given time we see numerous cardinals, goldfinches, titmice, blue jays, nuthatches, chickadees, juncos, 4 or more kinds of woodpeckers.  We have 3 feeding stations set up and the goldfinches have emptied theirs daily and the others we fill every other day…. we are sure enjoying God's little creatures.

Yes the blue and red mugs don't look so hot…..

Love Teal……….

and yes, I still need to distress the wall cabinets above the "buffet"….

I love the song "his eye is on the sparrow"  and so did my Dad it was sung a number of years ago at his funeral…. thought it was fitting with our backyard bird population!

Happy Friday!  Nancy

The Master Bedroom and Bath

When we first looked at this home I knew that it was possible to put in a Master Bath in what was the Master Closet… I KNEW it could be done!

Here is the Master Closet that we have made into a bathroom!!!

and here is our bedroom before I got a hold of it…… before it got Nancyfied

On the right hand side of our "then" closet was a laundry chute, I have forever and a day wanted a laundry chute, but where it did sit was where our vanity was to go…. NO WORRIES… my hubby could make it happen in the opposite corner…...

Here he is making my wish come true!!!  He is so great at helping me with my projects!!!!

I made a trip to Ikea and purchased the Hemne tall dresser thinking we could he could make it work!  So the bottom two drawers we did not he didn't put together knowing that we would make it into the door to open for the laundry chute…..

SEE

AND me dropping the maiden voyage laundry load…...

You could never tell by looking at the tall dresser what  we did!!

CAN we say I am LOVING the new bathroom...

and another view…. oh do not look too close I have a dozen or so outlet covers and do you think I could find them???

and the awesome new sleek style toilet!

Oh and do not look too closely and the water spotted shower doors…. the labels were on the wrong side so we now have to remove them and reinstall them the clear coat is on the wrong side…...

and looking into the bathroom from our bedroom…..

oh and another shot just because I am loving looking at it!

Oh and our bedroom, I painted the walls with Valspar Bird Song Blue….
and purchased a Royal Design Stencil and Stenciled the same gray from the bathroom onto the one wall…….

and a shot as you come into the room

the flooring I laid…..

and if you are wondering what we did for a closet we had a closet built in along the one wall… yes it took some of our space up but we didn't really care the trade off was a Master Bathroom!!!

THE END RESULT is WE LOVE IT!!!!!

Thanks for looking!!!  Nancy
